The selection commission of Music Production of the Radio Television of the Republic of Srpska has selected 16 compositions for the 31st International Djurdjevdan Festival of Children Songs in Banja Luka. The commission also selected 17 performers from Latvia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina Slovenia and Republic of Srpska. Children come from seven cities in BiH, Republic of Srpska (Bihac, Kostajnica, Doboj, Srbac, Mrkonjic Grad and Banja Luka) and six cities in the region (Sofia, Riga, Skopje, Podgorica, Novi Sad and Zagreb).
The competition lasted from December 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025. Fifty compositions were submitted and more thean 50 children applied.
The main criterion for selecting compositions and performers was the quality and originality of the composition and interpretation.
When selecting compositions, the commission took into account the compatibility of the arrangement and lyrics with the age of the performers (8 to 12 years old), but also the main target group – pre-teens and teenagers.
A lot of quality performers and compositions, both from the country and abroad, unfortunately, could not make it to the final selection due to the large number of applications and strong competition, as well as the limited number of participants and the duration of the program. The Djurdjevdan Festival team is counting on them in the years to come.
The 31st edition of the Festival will be held from 6th to 10th of May in Banja Luka.
